Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, has shot down a report from the Daily Mail that suggested the singer's family is worried that she is on meth and could die of an overdose. The outlet claimed to have spoken with Federline, and her estranged father, Jamie Spears, about Britney's situation during a recent interview.
“It saddens our family that Daphne Barak and Erbil Gunasti have decided to fabricate lies and publish the heartache our family has endured, along with the trauma of our minor children in the Daily Mail and The Sun,” Federline wrote in an Instagram Story statement, Sunday. “We did allow Daphne & Bill into our home because we trusted them, but that trust was lost and we severed ties back in March for many reasons we choose not to go into here. It is very distressing that she continues to harass our family when we have repeatedly asked her to leave us alone.”

As for the Daily Mail's report, they quoted Federline as saying, “I fear she’s on meth. I’ve been praying someone would make it public and that she wakes up. It’s terrifying. She is the mother of my boys.” They also mentioned Jamie comparing Britney to Amy Winehouse, who died of alcohol poisoning at just 27 yards old in 2011 after battling with substance abuse.
“Every time the telephone rings, I fear that there will be devastating news,” they further quoted Federline as saying. “I don’t want the boys to wake up one morning and find their mother has taken an overdose." Britney and Federline were married from 2004-2007. They share two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden.

The comments from Federline come as Spears celebrates her first wedding anniversary with her husband, Sam Asghari. The two tied the knot in the backyard of Britney's home in Thousand Oaks, California on June 9, 2022.
