Joyner Lucas has been treating his fans to a lot of new music in the lead-up to his forthcoming album. Since March he's dropped 4 new tracks, the most recent of which sports a feature from NBA Youngboy. "Cut U Off" starts lowkey and gives both artists the chance to flex their lyrical game. Once the beat drops though it becomes a high-energy banger. Surprisingly, Youngboy morphs his sound quite a bit to blend in with Joyner's energy and the results are great.
This is the first time Joyner Lucas and NBA Youngboy have appeared on a track together. The two have previously occupied different lanes and styles of hip hop though they merge surprisingly well on "Cut U Off." In an earlier single released this year, Joyner teamed up with another unlikely artist, Future. Their collaboration "Blackout" got fans' attention for similar reasons and has racked up millions of plays since it first dropped back in April.
Joyner Lucas And Youngboy Crossover
Joyner Lucas has dropped four new singles so far this year. On top of his collaborations with Future and NBA Youngboy he's also released two solo songs called "Devil's Work 2" and "What's That?" This output is nothing compared to what Youngboy has dropped, however. In just 2023 alone the rapper has released three entire new albums. The first of which I Rest My Case came out right at the start of the year and featured 19 Youngboy tracks with no features. He followed that up in April with the album Don't Try This At Home. The record contained hit songs that featured artists like Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, and The Kid LAROI.
He released Richest Opp his third album of the year so far last month. Despite the persistent release schedule each of the albums have performed quite well. All three projects managed to debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 including Richest Opp which made the top 5. What do you think of Joyner Lucas and NBA Youngboy's new track? Quotable Lyrics:
I can tell they switchin' when I read the signs
Ain't too many left in my circle, had to re-design (Ayy)
Uh, I got comfortable with disappointment, so I'll be just fine (Yeah)
Rather be alone, I've been valuin' my peace of mind (Yeah, yeah)
Keep it funky, we don't need to vibe
If you hit my line and I don't answer, don't you be surprised (Yeah)
You ain't on my wave, hope that you can read between the lines
