Jay-Z comes out on top.

Jay-Z and the fragrance brand Parlux had been engaged in a bit of a war for quite some time. If you remember, the brand sued Hov back in 2016 for a hefty $67 million. At the time, they claimed that Jay wasn't upholding his end of their deal. Overall, Jay had released one cologne with them, and from there, he didn't release another. Although, Hov's reasoning was based on the fact that they had not paid him the royalties they supposedly owed him. This subsequently led to a countersuit.

In the end, Jay-Z won the countersuit as the judge ruled in his favor. This meant that Parlux Fragrances would have to give Jay-Z upwards of $7 million. They eventually appealed this decision, however, they ended up losing. This news was reported by us last week, and it meant that Jay was about to receive a huge payday. Well, according to new reporting from TMZ, Parlux has officially paid up. Parlux has since sent the legendary artist $7,259,061.31. That is simply pocket change for the icon.

Fragrances can certainly be a tricky industry to maneuver. Firstly, you have the designer brands like Jean Paul Gaultier, Gucci, Versace, and Dior, who tend to dominate the market. Moreover, you have niche houses like Parfums de Marly, Mancera, and Montale, to who fragrance loves tend to gravitate. Lastly, you have artist-based fragrances that aren't always looked upon favorably. The last one to get looked upon positively was Ariana Grande's "Cloud" which some say is a dupe of the infamous Baccarat Rouge 540.

That said, this will be a huge hit to Parlux and its brand. However, we're sure Jay-Z is just happy he doesn't have to part ways with $67 million. Instead, he can save up that $7 million and potentially use it on his next massive purchase. Let us know what you think about all of this, in the comments section below.
