Lil Uzi Vert has faced criticism and backlash from fans for his recent bloody photo shoot with 032c Magazine. It is another instance in a longline of accusations of "Satanism" leveraged at the rapper. The magazine cover features Lil Uzi with an upside-down cross painted on his forehead and blood coming out of his nostrils. While it can certainly be said that the rapper is drawing up "Satanic" imagery and themes, the rapper is almost certainly not actually a Satanist. However, that didn't stop fans and critics from expressing disappointment.
Fans took to the magazine's comment section to express their disapproval. One critic straight up referring to Uzi's behavior as "Satanic." Another accused him of using his music to brainwash and confuse the youth. This is not the first time the Philadelphia rapper has been accused of Satanic behavior. He previously performed a song with lyrics referencing Satan during his Rolling Loud California set. Of course, this drew criticism from other rappers and fans alike. Tony Yayo, a member of G-Unit, expressed his disbelief. He stated that he personally believes in God and finds Uzi's lyrics to be too extreme. Summer Walker also voiced her concerns about the trendiness of demon worship. She questioned whether those promoting it had actually encountered or understood the gravity of such entities.
Uzi Responds To Claims Of Satanism
After the Rolling Loud song performance criticism got too loud to ignore, Lil Uzi Vert eventually responded to the backlash. In the aforementioned song, he raps the line, "I make a City Girl believe in Satan." While this isn't the first time Uzi has mentioned the devil in his music, this particular lyric sparked significant pearl-clutching. Apparently, it even led to a pastor denouncing the rapper during a sermon. The pastor highlighted not only this lyric but also other instances where Lil Uzi Vert had referenced the devil in his songs throughout the years.
During a recent encounter with TMZ, Uzi addressed the backlash and clarified his intentions behind the controversial lyric. He confirmed that his upcoming album, Pink Tape, would be released in the next few months. He also said that the song performed at Rolling Loud would be included on the tracklist. When explaining the meaning behind the lyric, he clarified that the line had nothing to do with Satan. Rather, it meant that he has influence over women. Uzi also mentioned that JT, of the City Girls, didn't think much of the lyric when he discussed it with her.
