Recently, an unfortunate and worrisome development struck one of hip-hop's most consistent and dominant lyricists working today. Moreover, Conway The Machine announced last week that he would have to cancel his upcoming tour and postpone it to other dates due to a severe leg injury. Of course, messages of support, sympathy, and well-wishes poured in from fans and industry peers alike. However, never doubt the former (but forever) Griselda member's resilience and strength in the face of adversity. This week, he shared a video of him starting to walk with his broken leg and put on a song from another New York legend as its background music.
Furthermore, the track in question was none other than 50 Cent's album cut "Gotta Make It To Heaven" from his 2003 classic Get Rich Or Die Tryin'. Given the song's inspirational lyrics and thematic focus, it's no wonder that it would inspire Conway The Machine to get better every day. While fans wait for an update on his next shows, at least we have a whole new album of material to celebrate. WON'T HE DO IT is more of what you'd expect from the Buffalo native, and it's a testament to his inherent skill and ability that it's still a standout project of the year.
Conway The Machine's "Gotta Make It To Heaven" Through The Pain Of His Leg Injury
However, this is far from the first time that Conway The Machine overcame adversity and physical trauma to continue striving for success. Back in 2012, shots to the face and neck left the right side of his face being paralyzed. "When it initially happened I was only in [the hospital] for a couple weeks and then I got out. But see, what I’m saying, in the hood for somebody that got shot in the head and the neck, that’s fast,” he told Ebro In The Morning.
“But you know how it is when your insurance is not that good and you go to the hood hospitals and stuff," he continued. "They need them beds and them rooms so they’re just trying to get you up out of there, and they actually released me kinda too early and I had to go back for another period of time… I had one surgery and that was just to get the bullet out of my neck." We wish him the best on his path to recovery and health, whether physically or mentally. For more news and the latest updates on Conway The Machine, come back to HNHH.
