Fans can expect to hear Jorja Smith's second LP soon.

Singer-songwriter Jorja Smith has shared new details surrounding her upcoming album, falling or flying. The singer's second LP is set for release later this year via her own label, FAMM, and fans can preorder the album now. Listeners can expect to hear falling or flying on September 29, 2023. She also took to Instagram to share the album's cover art with her followers. The album will be Smith's first full-length record since 2018's Lost & Found. It also follows her 2021 EP Be Right Back, and her 2016 EP Project 11.

Smith shared in a press statement “I don't slow down enough." "This album is like my brain. There’s always so much going on but each song is definitely a standstill moment," she adds about the new LP. She also shared an Instagram post today, captioned, "falling or flying, my second album! Out 29th September 2023. I can’t believe it tbh….Album cover shot by @lizjohnsonartur !!!!!"

Smith's Second Album

The new album will feature two singles Smith also shared recently. Smith released "Try Me" in April, followed by "Little Things" earlier this month. "Try Me" was accompanied by a powerful music video directed by Amber Grace Johnson. It aligned with the song's intense lyrics, showing Smith enacting a symbolic battle with a lover. "Little Things" took on a lighter tone, with the accompanying video featuring Smith asking people on the street what they look for in a partner. The "Little Things" video was directed by Bolade Banjo.

Smith shared that her newest single is about, “putting yourself out there, in front of a world that has many opinions.” Explaining it's creation, she says she had “a lil’ concoction — rum, ting, and a magnum.” “It only ever used to be [her] really being [her] own critic,” she explained. Smith also went on to say, "This is the first time I’m putting stuff out there that I can connect with right now.” She recalled “imagining hearing this walking into a party and seeing someone I’d had my eye on.” The artist called the song “fun!” and “pretty self-explanatory.”
