An alleged stalker was taken into custody at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Montecito home early Monday morning. According to reports, the pair's security team called Santa Barbara County police to report a man near their property. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office told TMZ that the call took place at 2 a.m. Harry and Meghan's security team placed Kevin Garcia Valdovinos under citizen's arrest at the entrance to their property, where police later took him into custody. He was arrested for misdemeanor stalking. The 29-year-old man was released later that morning on $2,500 bail. It's unclear whether or not the pair was home at the time of the incident. The reasoning behind the man's arrest has led to speculation that this wasn't the first time he had tried to get close to the couple.
In March, comedian Chris Rock called Markle out in his stand-up special Selective Outrage. In the special, Rock said "Like who is this girl Meghan Markle? Seems like a nice lady, just complaining." He went on to say, “Like didn’t she hit the light-skinned lottery?” The comedian also commented on an interview Markle did with Oprah in 2022.

"'They’re so racist, they’re so racist.’ Some of that shit she went through was not racism. It was just some in-law shit,” Rock joked. He went on to mock the interview, “‘Oprah, they’re so racist. They wanted to know how brown the baby was going to be.’ That’s not racist. Even Black people want to know how brown the baby going to be.” “I know her dilemma: Black girl trying to be accepted by her white in-laws. Oh, it’s hard. It’s so hard – but it ain’t as hard as a white girl trying to be accepted by her black in-laws. Now that shit is really hard,” he continued about Markle. He then went on to poke fun at the Kardashians, saying “If you Black and you wanted to be accepted by your white in-laws then you need to marry a Kardashian because they accept everybody.”
In a January interview with Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes, the prince addressed press surrounding him and Markle's relationship. He said he "had no idea the British press were so bigoted. Hell, I was probably bigoted before the relationship with Meghan."
