Adidas issues statement regarding poorly-worded email.

Adidas has found themselves apologizing to consumers today, following a poorly worded email that aimed to congratulate runners who completed the Boston Marathon on Monday.

The subject line of the email which was sent out today read, "Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!"

The cringeworthy subject line is of course receiving backlash as being incredibly insensitive in the wake of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people and injured dozens more.

Maria Culp, a spokeswoman for Adidas, issued the following statement today regarding the email.

"We are incredibly sorry," Culp said. "Clearly, there was no thought given to the insensitive email subject line we sent Tuesday. We deeply apologize for our mistake. The Boston Marathon is one of the most inspirational sporting events in the world. Every year we’re reminded of the hope and resiliency of the running community at this event."
