Fans were treated to disappointment this week as the Lil Wayne and DJ Drama mixtape Dedication 4 was delayed. Many are anxious to see if Weezy has returned to form, after making statements about being more dedicated to skateboarding these days than rapping.
Young Money president Mack Maine was the one who broke the bad news to fans via Twitter, saying the tape was delayed and that new release date would be soon. In a viral video statement, Wayne said he decided to push back the mixtape release out of respect for his friend 2 Chainz’ recently release Based on a T.R.U. Story.
“I know I was supposed to drop that mix tape and all that, all that. But listen, my homeboy 2 Chainz just dropped his album yesterday [August 14th],” the Young Money rapper added, “That’s my real, real, real, real good homeboy right there and I refuse to put any attention on me when he spotlight, everybody’s eyes, everybody’s attention, everybody’s focus, should be on my nigga 2 Chainz album Based On A T.R.U. Story. So therefore, I ain’t giving you Dedication 4 yet.”
Later, Weezy also admitted to the album not being fully completed as well. In the mean time he released a “No Lie” freestyle, and given fans a glimpse at the mixtape cover art. Check out the video in full below.
