The A$AP Mob has always had an ear to the streets. When Yams was still alive, he had an ear for what was going to pop before anybody knew. While being a major player in Mob's success before his passing, he knew which producers, rappers and artists were bubbling before they even popped. Even after his death, the Mob carried on his mentality of following what is "hot" right now but what will be hot in the future. It has helped them not only be figures in hip hop but has helped them transcend that as figures of the culture in general. So it shouldn't come as any surprise when Ski Mask the Slump God tweeted a screenshot of a direct message exchange between himself and Mob member, A$AP Ferg. Late last night, Ski Mask tweeted a DM message from the Still Striving rapper that said "What's good kid [phone number] hit me let's work." With the screenshot, the actual tweet read "This Is Things I Live For , I'm Grateful."
It didn't take long for the two rappers to step in the studio together. A$AP Ferg took to his Instagram to throw up a short clip of the two in the studio together. Even though it's short, seems like the chemistry of the two artists together is strong. Their both heard rapping over a sampled beat of the Timbaland produced "Get Ya Freak On" by Missy Elliot. The Instagram caption reads "Ski Mask ft me "I love your auntie" studio vibes 📹@gurumediagroup." The Instagram clip itself looks like it would make for a great in-studio performance video however, with Ferg's directing abilities that he's proven in the past, this song could very much receive a ground-breaking visual treatment.
Ferg doesn't seem to stop working. On Friday, he released his long-awaited Still Striving mixtape and now he's back in the studio with Ski Mask. Let's hope this song sees the light of day very soon.
