So... did she not see what happened at Coachella?

Jokes aside, SZA and Frank Ocean are probably two of the most (if not the most) beloved pop and R&B figures of the last decade or so. As such, it's expected for them to have a lot of love and respect for one another, which the SOS singer displayed proudly. Recently, she was pictured wearing a shirt with the former Odd Future member's face on it, showing she might be as much of a fan of fan-designed merch as the rest of us plebeians. Of course, as anything Frank or Solana touch turns to gold, fans immediately clamored for a prompt collab release.

Still, that day may never come, considering Frank Ocean's notoriously scant drops over the course of his ten-plus-year career. However, SZA's more on top of the world than she's ever been, so if anyone has that power, it may well be her. In fact, fans recently spotted him during her incredibly successful tour watching Omar Apollo open for her. With that in mind, their relationship probably goes deeper than any collab track fans will pester them for online.

What's more is that we've been so close to getting that team-up on at least a few different occasions. For example, the TDE artist named the "White Ferrari" vocalist as one of her intended collaborations on her latest album. Other names included Drake, Bad Bunny, Tyler, The Creator, Billie Eilish, ROSALÍA, Kacey Musgraves, and more. "Sometimes people turn in their verses and sometimes they don’t," SZA remarked about Frank Ocean's potential guest spot during a HOT 97 interview. "And a lot of people just did not turn in their verses. But I’m grateful for who did. For a lot of these people, I didn’t turn in my verse [either] so I can’t be too mad."

"I’ve learnt a lot from people around me,” she told i-D Magazine concerning her favorite artists back in 2018. “I f**k with Ri. She’s in my corner. I f**k with what she does, I f**k with her place in the world. I f**k with her energy, I f**k with what she chooses to do with it, she’s dope. Frank Ocean is a king. Kendrick Lamar is the voice of our generation. He’s the most exciting thing in culture right now. Kidding. Although not really." Regardless of their potential work together, return to HNHH for the latest news on SZA and Frank Ocean.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gabriel treasures the crossover between his native reggaetón and hip-hop news coverage, such as his review for Bad Bunny’s hometown concert in 2024. But more specifically, he digs for the deeper side of hip-hop conversations, whether that’s the “death” of the genre in 2023, the lyrical and parasocial intricacies of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, or the many moving parts of the Young Thug and YSL RICO case. Beyond engaging and breaking news coverage, Gabriel makes the most out of his concert obsessions, reviewing and recapping festivals like Rolling Loud Miami and Camp Flog Gnaw. He’s also developed a strong editorial voice through album reviews, think-pieces, and interviews with some of the genre’s brightest upstarts and most enduring obscured gems like Homeboy Sandman, Bktherula, Bas, and Devin Malik.
