On Tuesday, Apple surprised its users & fans when it announced that it’s dropping a special red aluminum color way of the iPhone 7 this week to commemorate the 10-year partnership between the tech giant and Red, an organization that helps fights AIDS.
In a statement Tuesday, Apple boss Tim Cook addressed the new phone's design and its potential ability to help in the battle against AIDS. "Since we began working with (RED) 10 years ago, our customers have made a significant impact in fighting the spread of AIDS through the purchase of our products, from the original iPod nano (PRODUCT)RED Special Edition all the way to today's lineup of Beats products and accessories for iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch," Cook said of the special edition phones.
The red phones will be available in stores and online starting Friday for a "limited" time, though Apple didn't provide any specific details about the timeframe. Prices will start at $749, and be available in both the iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus.
