However, to honor her, Ashcraft decided to pitch his scheduled start before leaving to be with his family. The ability to go out and deliver the best of your ability for your team in a moment like this is special. Ashcraft changed his walk-out song for today's game for one of his grandmother's favorites. The Reds pitcher said she would always listen to it while thinking of her grandson.
Ashcraft delivered for his team. Going six innings, giving up two runs in the process. When Ashcraft was pulled from the game, the Reds held a 3-2 series lead.
