Steph Curry didn't have the best fourth quarter during Sunday's Game 4 matchup with the Sacramento Kings. However, Curry and the Warriors were able to overcome a late push by the Kings to even the series at 2-2. But the Game 4 victory almost slipped away after Curry's massive fourth-quarter mistake. As the Warriors were trying to wrap up the victor, Curry found himself in a predicament. Instead of committing a turnover, Curry signaled to the official for a timeout. However, the Warriors didn't have any timeouts left.
The blunder re-opened the door for the Sacramento Kings. After a free throw and clutch 3 from De'Aaron Fox, the Kings found themselves one more made basket away from stealing Game 4. However, the Kings came up just short after Harrison Barnes' missed game-winner. Instead of running out the clock on a victory, the Warriors held their breath until the last season shot refused to go in. Afterward, the Warriors bench was all smiles. Including star guard Klay Thompson.
Steph Curry Survives Epic Mishap
Curry's timeout mishap was reminiscent of one of the biggest mistakes in sports history. If you're old enough to remember, Chris Webber called a timeout during the National Championship that resulted in a technical for his Michigan Wolverines. The mistake cost Webber and the Wolverines any hopes of the championship. The incident has since been the most talked about mistake in sports. However, Thompson didn't hold back on his jokes directed at Curry. Thompson was heard calling Curry "C-Webb" as the team walked back to the locker room.
The Webber memory is throwing even more salt in the wounds of Kings fans. Webber's best days in the NBA were when the former Michigan star was a member of the Kings. The early 00s Kings are one of the more memorable teams of their era. However, the team suffered one of the most heartbreaking NBA Playoffs losses ever when Robert Horry buried them with a last-second three. It can be laughed about now. However, Steph Curry was one made basket away from being the joke of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. For the latest NBA news, keep it right here at HNHH.
