Stephen A. could not be happier with the Knicks right now.

Stephen A. Smith has been a fan of the New York Knicks since childhood. Unfortunately, aside from two championships in the 70s, he has not seen them be successful. Although they have made it to a few NBA Finals, they haven't been able to get over the hump. Moreover, the last 20 years have been filled with some truly abysmal seasons. At this point, being a Knicks fan is incredibly difficult, even when they make the playoffs. However, this year has actually been very encouraging for the Knicks.

Yesterday, the team completed their Games 3 and 4 sweep at Madison Square Garden in round one against the Cavaliers. Consequently, they are now leading the series 3-1, and can close it out in Cleveland this week. Overall, this is a bit of a shocking development, as most felt like the Cavs were a lock to win the series. As one can imagine, Stephen A. is over the moon about all of this. How can he not be? His team is experiencing quite a bit of success, and they may be the shock team of the East.

Stephen A. Is A Happy Man

Subsequently, Stephen A. is in a pretty good mood right now. Of course, he has to help host First Take this morning, and he is gloating about the Knicks. In the video up above, Smith gives the First Take crew a good chuckle with his "Go New York, Go New York, Go!" chant. This has been a rallying cry for the Knicks for decades, and it is certainly getting a lot of usage in these playoffs. Although they probably won't even make the Finals, there is so much hype around the team right now.

There have been times when Smith wanted to renounce his Knicks fandom completely. Now, however, he has no reason not to love them. They are playing at a high level, and they are showing very few signs of slowing down. Whether or not the Knicks can close out their first-round series, remains to be seen.
