Some predicted that 6ix9ine would have a tough time coming back from last month's gym assault. Regardless of what the haters have to say, the New Yorker has clearly been feeling inspired, as he quickly flew overseas to both Uganda and the Dominican Republic to put together an exciting project. On Saturday (April 15), he unleashed his second single of the year, "WAPAE," which came along with a lively music video mostly recorded on 6ix9ine's iPhone throughout his various travels.
Hours after announcing the song's arrival, the 26-year-old shared another Instagram post expressing gratitude to his fans. "Wow... I just want to say thank you. 1,300,000 views & #4 already trending in the world in 3 hours," he wrote yesterday afternoon. "I decided to jump into the Latin market because 1. I am of Latin [descent] & 2. Not the main reason but I did sign a 3,000,000 dollar deal in 2020 for a Latin album that I never delivered. But I never expected to receive the support that you guys have given me. I want to say thank you & I love you, 💕."
6ix9ine's "WAPAE" Brings Him Big Success
Music lovers have made it known how pleased they are to see such a major change in 6ix9ine following his past antics. "The best thing you did was go into the Latin sector and let ppl see your humble side," one IG user previously expressed. "Big props for what [you're] doing... This is def the right track. [It's] giving everyone a view of your true self and not the persona [people] assume you have. Congrats and keep it up." The numbers are also speaking for themselves, as "WAPAE" has already amassed over 40K streams on Spotify alone in just one day.
Aside from celebrating the success of his latest musical work, the Bushwick-born artist has also been having plenty of fun with his friends in the Dominican Republic. In his most recent post, he and a handful of bikini baddies participated in an internet challenge that found them getting physical in the great outdoors.
