G Herbo is reportedly working to negotiate a plea deal in his fraud and identity theft case.

G Herbo might see a resolution in his fraud case from December 2020 in the coming months. According to HipHopDX, the Chicago rapper put in a request to discuss a possible plea deal in his fraud and identity theft case. Court documents reveal that his attorneys filed for a Rule 11 hearing, which the court also refers to as a Waiver Of Indictment. “The government is actively in plea negotiations with defense counsel for all defendants and has already requested a Rule 11 hearing from Herbert Wright III,” it reads.

Though there’s no word on whether there’s a plea deal on the table or if he’ll actually take it, the hearing will take place on June 12th, 2021. So far, the rapper hasn’t responded to the reports publicly but this could be a prime opportunity to dodge a lengthy trial or worse, jail. Rule 11 intends to “promote the speedy and orderly disposition of cases at a time certain which is most convenient to all parties.” It also “calls upon defendants’ counsel to aid the court in the disposition of all preliminary motions and other matters relative to pending cases.”

What Charges Are Against G Herbo?

Prosecutors charged G Herbo with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, along with two counts of aiding and abetting aggravated identity theft. Both charges stem from an apparent incident in 2017 where prosecutors claim that he, along with his co-defendant Antonio Strong, planned to use a stolen credit card to rent out a villa in Jamaica. However, they also said that he also attempted to fraudulently acquire two “designer puppies” with a stolen credit card. “[G Herbo] maintains his innocence and looks forward to establishing his innocence in court,” his rep said.

Besides the charges, G Herbo appears to be gearing up to deliver his follow-up to Survivor’s Remorse, which arrived last year. A few months ago, he released his first single of 2023, “Raining,” alongside Murda Beatz and Yung Bleu. However, he’ also dished out plenty of guest appearances as well. He appears on NLE Choppa’s new album alongside Polo G for “Disability Checks.” He also teamed up with Zaytoven on “How I’m Playin.” Hopefully, there’s more music in store from G Herbo ahead of summer 2023.
