Nearly five years after he was fatally shot during a robbery in Florida, the family of XXXTENTACION finally received justice. Last month, a jury convicted the three men, Dedrick Williams, Trayvon Newsome, and Michael Boatwright, for their roles in X’s death. However, the judge finally handed down a life sentence with no chance of parole. Friends and family rejoiced at the news. Meanwhile, Cleopatra Bernard, the mother of X, had a message for each one of the defendants.
Bernard doesn’t think life will be easy for Newsome, Williams, or Boatwright when they begin their sentence. Speaking to TMZ, Cleopatra said that felt the sentence was appropriate. However, she also believes that they will all be targets inside of prison. She called out Boatwright, specifically, who was caught blowing a kiss to X’s family when the jury convicted him. “Buttright (not a typo) will now get the kiss he wants so bad,” she said in a statement.

Ultimately, the effect of XXXTENTACION continues to bring pain to Bernard and his legion of fans. Though Boatwright felt the need to taunt their pain once he was convicted, Bernard understandably carries a deep disdain towards Williams and Newsome. While she feels they will have troubles behind bars, she also had some advice for them. “My hope for these other gentlemen is they will retain a firm grasp on the slippery soap,” Bernard added.
Following the conviction of the three men, Bernard and the mother of X’s son issued statements celebrating. Bernard kept her statements brief while Jenesis Sanchez expressed gratitude for the support. “After 5 long years you may finally rest in peace. Gekyume will never get to meet you earthside but it is my job as a mother to ensure I share those special memories with him,” she wrote on Instagram. “Jah was robbed of his life and Geky was robbed of his father. For this, I will never truly have complete peace but justice being served today helps the healing process.” Prayers up for XXXTENTACION’s family and friends. We’ll keep you posted on any updates surrounding the sentencing of the fourth defendant, who testified against the other three.
