Lupe Fiasco may have announced his retirement from rap this month, but he's followed it up with a release date for his long-awaited album DROGAS Light. Last week, only days after announcing he was hanging it up, the Chicago rapper announced that DROGAS Light would be coming February 10th. Given how unpredictable the rapper has been lately, fans were hesitant to take the announcement too seriously, but today, Lupe has shared the date on Twitter, suggesting that perhaps we will actually be getting the album after all.
According to Reddit, Lupe mentioned at the recent show that the "real" DROGAS will arrive after he fulfills his contract with Atlantic, who will release a "light" version of the album. A fan in the thread also claimed that Lupe invited an audience member to listen to this "real" version at the concert. So far, there's no release date for DROGAS proper, or any of the other projects he's announced over the last year. Lupe had decided to retire after facing backlash over anti-Semitic lyrics on his "N.E.R.D." freestyle.
