The L's keep flowing for any and all unlucky enough to be caught up in the Fyre Festival's nuclear-level fallout. This time, the bad news comes to the employees of Fyre Media, who received news that they would not be getting paid for any of their work. In an awkward conference call, Billy McFarland and a silent Ja Rule deliver the unfortunate tidings on the dozen or so employees. Suffice it to say, nobody is pleased.
“I understand that this is not an ideal situation for everybody, and this will likely cause a lot of you to resign, which we totally get and understand," said McFarland. "That said, if you want to stick with us, we’d love to have you and we’d love to work together and hunker down and get back to a place where everything resumes to business as usual.”
One of the employees points out that McFarland's decision to not lay anyone off prevents them from filing for unemployment benefits. McFarland responds by playing dumb, but the employee raises a valid point. There's plenty more to learn from the discussion, which provides a bit of insight into the sinking ship that is Fyre Media. The full conference call was uploaded by Vice, and can be streamed on Soundcloud below.
