Tinashe drops off the new song "Light The Night Up."

Fans have been patiently waiting for the release of Tinashe’s sophomore album, Joyride, for what feels like forever now after she first announced it back in September of 2015. So to hold us over in the meantime, Tinashe thankfully dropped off a Nightride project last year to serve as an appetizer, but fans are still anticipating the follow to Aquarius. Earlier this year, Tinashe gave us the first taste of Joyride when she released the hot & sexy new single “Flame,” and today we’re treated to another song from the R&B songstress called “Light The Night Up.”

However, this will NOT see life on her upcoming sophomore album but rather serve more as a celebratory song for the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football telecast. Going in over the dance-friendly production from VonLichten and Hitmaka, Tinashe delivers a feel-good party anthem that finds her singing about “we could light the night up.” Highlighted by its EDM-infused production & Tinashe’s vocals, “Light The Night Up” is another strong addition to her steady growing catalogue of records, and all the more reasons to tune into Thursday night football games.

Take a listen and let us know what you think. Record available now on iTunes.

In other related news, Tinashe confirmed to fans on twitter that this was NOT a single, but she reassured us that new music was indeed coming soon (see below). Unfortunately, she didn’t clarify when that’ll be, but hopefully it’s another taste of her long awaited sophomore album Joyride when it does. Stay tuned.

Quotable Lyrics:

It's in the air, sun's going down
It's what you feel when you light up this town
The skies will open, stars will shine bright
We won't forget what happens tonight
