J. Cole talks about the freedom he felt in the studio recording his sophomore album, and that he has produced the majority of the album and limited the features to some key names.

Ever since dropping his single "Miss America" fans have been anticipating J. Cole's sophomore album Born Sinner.  Now the NC rapper says that they can expect this album to be even better than his last because he felt "free" in the studio this time around. He also says that he produced the majority of the songs, and has limited features outside of a few key names.

Talking with MTV, Cole says that after he dropped Cole World, that it felt like a giant weight had been lifted, and now he is being more creative than ever.  Describing why he feels this album will be even better than his last he says, "Freedom, just [having] no pressure...As soon as my first album dropped, all of this weight was off me and everything was flowing out and that lasted a long time, months and months. So just the freedom of not having to please the label, the machine, that was very inspiring."

The freedom is going to be shown both in his production and his rhymes.  J. Cole says he produced most of the tracks, and was very selective about the features he put on the LP, "I've got a few other producers, but [it's] really majority produced by me," regarding the features he adds, "[And] a couple features — key features, that I really wanted to get. I don't even know if I'm gonna put the features on the track [I might just] let it be a surprise."

Born Sinner is currently slated for a late January release, but Cole had previously said that it will most likely come out later as he wants to do more work on the project.
