21 Savage's regular collaborator Young Nudy has established a considerable following in his own right with the release of Nudy Land and his Slimeball tapes, and Savage Gang's Tip is looking to do the same. On "Red Redemption," he teams with Young Thug for a track that presents a very traditional Atlanta trap sound, opting for warmer key tones compared to the darker tones the region has embraced over the last little while. However, the subject matter is just as gritty as 21's. "This snake is on my shirts / It might be python / I'm straight up out them trenches / I'm Atlanta-born / I jumped straight in the streets / I was hands-on / We cool, he knew my face / But I put my mask on," he raps.
Meanwhile, Thugger enters with a cadence that isn't as immediately recognizable as you'd expect, reeling in his usually wailing melodies in favor of a guttural bark. "No game, no Sega," he raps in a punchline-heavy 16.
Like Nudy, Tip has been working with Pi'erre Bourne as of late. We recently spoke to the producer about his choice of collaborators. "That's the beauty of making music. Some people have different methods and processes," he said. "That showed me a lot. So I get excited when Nudy comes into the studio, and this nigga just do one take. And then I pull up another beat, and he do one take. And then I pull up ANOTHER beat, and he do one take. I'm like, man, we about to kill the game, because everyone else takes fucking forever for a sentence, and we knocking out songs. That showed me a lot, because when you think about it, if we're all in this quote-unquote race to be the best or whatever, we're kind of winning, because y'all are taking forever on this one fucking song, and we done knocked out ten. So it betters our chances, because we might have three great songs while you made that one great song."
Look out for more new music from Tip very soon.
