J. Cole's Dreamville has got a good one.

North Carolina has given us another rapper to hit big. Coming up thanks to the likes of J. Cole, Lute is a slick rapper whose songs and lyricism is something that can't be missed.

Back in 2012 Lute dropped West 1996, an 11-track project with the stand out song being "Queen City Slummin.'" It put Lute on the map and garnered enough hype that had fans wanting more, especially after J. Cole shouted out the rapper saying he's the hottest rapper in Charlotte.

To put those at ease, Lute has dropped a pre-album single titled "Premonition" which will be on his upcoming album West 1996 Part 2. The song boasts a smooth intro that Lute quickly takes over not killing any easy vibes. The song also features labelmates EARTHGANG and producer Cam O’bi. Lute is really on the right label as he sounds like a real J. Cole prodigy.

The "Carolina Folk" rapper released a short documentary, Still Slummin', just last week that details his come-up and touches on his life before he struck gold, with clips of him and his daughter, him in the studio spitting ultimate bars and even talking about his first rapper name.

“My album is a accumulation of chapters and events leading up to Dreamville signing me,” Lute says in the video that also shows his childhood friends and mom. “It’s a window into the last five years of my life: the obstacles, the challenges, the changes. It’s also motivation to not let people or circumstances define who you are. My only competition is the person I was yesterday. I’ve been patient and very appreciative of this platform and now its time to show what I’m capable of.”

I would suggest checking out the documentary before listening to the new track so you can really hear where Lute is coming from.

For now, stay tuned for his album drop and let us know what you think of the track.

Quotable Lyrics

They say "life is what you make" so it's all for the taken
Seen a family get evicted, had me reminiscing
Yet I'm bitching about life, I should be happy I'm alive
But shit, we tired of flipping fries
Niggas trapping on the side
