Long before Stacey Dash went Republican, we loved seeing her on the big screen. At one point, she was undoubtedly one of the hottest women in Hollywood.

At one point, Stacey Dash was one of the hottest women in Hollywood.  During the 90s, you could either catch her on TV or at the theater.  Playing the love interest in many roles, Dash proved to be a good actress.  For 40 years, she has excelled in big roles, starred in music videos, and tried her hand at news commentary.  Stacey Dash is most known for starring in Clueless, but she has a much longer catalog.

Big Roles

After receiving a few movie roles, in 1992, Stacey Dash landed a substantial part in a film.  She co-starred as Amber Evans in the movie, Mo’ Money with Damon and Marlon Wayans.  Dash plays the love interest of Damon Wayans as he tries to woo her throughout the movie.  Though Mo’ Money debuted at number one at the box office in its opening weekend, the film still did not receive many favorable reviews.  But, at this time, Damon Wayans casted a beautiful budding bombshell in Dash as the lead female role, which made it easier to keep your attention.

A few years later, the New York native snags her biggest role yet as Dionne Davenport in Clueless.  Dash stars alongside Alicia Silverstone who plays Cher.  Clueless follows the life of high school student Cher Horowitz as she faces triumphs and tragedies as a teenage girl.  The 90s film was a hit and has been referenced through music, fashion, and other TV shows for decades!  It was so good that the movie even developed into a series with Dash playing Dionne as well.  The teen sitcom lasted for three seasons.

Dash continued to secure roles on prominent television shows.  She appeared on The Cosby Show as Denise’s friend in season two as well as on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.  Stacey played a famous pop star that broke Will’s heart.  She also became a part of the cast for the hit series, The Game, for two seasons playing Camille Rose.

Working Girl

Dash hasn’t received many major roles, but she has sure kept busy throughout all these years.  The 56-year-old actress got her first break over 40 years ago in Farrell for the People.  Though the show only aired its pilot episode, Dash kept securing roles.  After being in The Cosby Show, she landed significant movie roles in Enemy Territory, Moving, and Tennessee Waltz.

While working in movies, Dash still had time for television shows.  She snagged a recurring role on the medical series, St. Elsewhere during its final season and was a part of the drama series, TV  101.  Before starring in Clueless the film, Stacey played Private Miranda Myers in Renaissance Man.  While filming for Clueless the TV series, she still played her part in movies such as Illegal in Blue, Cold Around the Heart, and Personals.

The Bronx native entered the 2000s on a high note with all the work she had done.  She was gaining a name for herself and started working with big names.  In 2002, she was casted for Roc-A-Fella Records’ movie, Paper Soldiers.  This was the first time we see comedian Kevin Hart act as he often flirts with Dash throughout the film.  Of course, like most of her roles, Dash is the desirable character as she stars alongside Jay-Z, Angie Martinez, and Michael Rapaport.

In the movie, Gang of Roses, the Clueless actress acts alongside Bobby Brown, LisaRaye, and Lil Kim.  Continuing her run on television, Dash also received roles on well-known shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Eve, and American Dad.  Since 2008, she has either appeared in a TV show or movie every year.

Music Video Pro

The Bronx actress  has also been the star of a few music videos as well.  Her first music video came in 1989 in Christopher Williams’ “Talk to Myself”.  She dated Christopher Williams and they share a son together.  For the movie, Mo’ Money, Luther Vandross and Janet Jackson combined for the Grammy nominated song, “The Best Things in Life Are Free”.  The two stars of the movie, Dash and Damon Wayans, starred in the music video as well, singing along to the lyrics as if they were Jackson and Vandross.

A few years later, Stacey stars in the music video, “That Girl” by MJG.  Carl Thomas snags her up for his hit song, “Emotional”, where the two can be seen behaving in an intimate manner.   Dash follows this up by starring in Kanye West’s music video, “All Falls Down”.  She plays his girlfriend as they two are headed to the airport.

Rick Ross also steals Stacey Dash for his hit song, “Super High” featuring Ne-Yo.  Ross literally takes Dash from her man and she rides off with him on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.  F. Gary Gray directed the video, which is why she ended up taking the role.

Surprisingly, in 2012, Dash starred in another music video, but this time it was her own.  Emcee N.I.C.E.’s “Life of the Party” features Blake Smith and Dash.  The song is a mix of dance, hip hop, and R&B.  Dash is trying to prove she can do music as well.

Stacey the Commentator

After being a Democrat for most of her life, Stacey Dash decided to switch sides and become a Republican in 2012.  This led to her becoming a Fox News on-air commentator just a few years later.  Everyone got to see a new side of Dash as she constantly ignored many issues, such as problems that both the Black and LGBTQ community endure.

In 2015, while on Fox’s show Outnumbered, she claimed President Barack Obama “didn’t give a s***” about terrorism.  Her statements on air led her to be suspended without pay for two weeks.  That same year, Dash received criticism because she was not in support of the women’s movement to close the pay gap between women and men.  The new republican felt women need to work harder.  She echoed the same sentiments towards women on Outnumbered again.

“Be a better negotiator.  Know your value.”

The following year, she received more backlash from the Black community after recommending Black History Month be canceled.  On Outnumbered, Dash talks about a double standard with Black History Month.

“And if we don’t want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you’re only awarded if you’re Black…It’s a double standard.  There shouldn’t be a Black History Month.  We’re Americans.  Period.”

She didn’t stop there as she went on Entertainment Tonight later that year to express her feelings about trans people.  The Clueless actress believes trans people should “go to the bushes” to use the bathroom.  To say the least, Dash knows how to make an impression.  She was set to run against U.S. Representative Nanette Barragan of California in 2018, but ultimately backed out.  She says she has no political plans for the future.
