Shawn Kemp Released From Jail, Avoids Charges

Shawn Kemp is still under investigation.

Yesterday, former Seattle Supersonics superstar Shawn Kemp stole all of the headlines. Overall, this was due to a report that he had been involved in a drive-by shooting in Tacoma, Washington. This was a truly shocking report as it didn't seem like something he was capable of. Subsequently, more details began to roll in, which ultimately painted a clearer picture for fans. According to ESPN, Kemp had stuff stolen from him on Tuesday. The following day, he went to get his goods back, however, someone allegedly opened fire on him. From there, he fired back in self-defense.

In a video of the incident obtained by TMZ, Kemp could be seen running back to his car. Additionally, he dumped his gun in some bushes nearby before flagging down the cops. He cooperated with authorities who eventually arrested him and took him to Pierce County Jail. Moreover, the cops went to the bushes and pulled the gun out. These reports led to some significant reactions on social media, as fans could simply not believe what they were hearing.

Since yesterday, Kemp has been released from jail, according to ESPN. The Pierce County Prosecutor's Office has made it clear that no charges have been filed. However, this does not mean Kemp is out of the woods. There is now an ongoing investigation and charges could be filed if they see fit. Although, Kemp's attorney Scott Boatman firmly believes that this is a self-defense situation and that he should remain free. Only time will tell how this investigation sways.

Boatman additionally explained how Kemp tracked down his items. Among the goods stolen was an iPhone that he had tracking on. There were also some other things that had been taken as Kemp's car had been broken into. Needless to say, this is just an overall unfortunate situation.
