The singer's rep laid the rumors to rest and denies an early report.

News of their entanglement took over the internet, but the canoodling between August Alsina and Jada Pinkett Smith has long been over. Yet, the ongoing attention the Smiths receive seems to rope Alsina's name into headlines regularly. Things once again kicked up a notch thanks to Chris Rock, who mentioned the controversy in his latest Netflix standup special, Selective Outrage. It has been the talk of pop culture since its release, and Alsina is refuting a report about his reaction to the show.

News circulated that Alsina watched Selective Outrage and was amused by Rock's mention. The gossip suggested the singer laughed at the couple being ridiculed, but his rep told Page Six that wasn't true. "This is a lie," the rep reportedly said. "Mr. Alsina has not seen Chris Rock’s special at all, as he’s been busy on tour."

Selective Outrage isn't the first time Chris has quipped about the Smiths. Years ago, he cracked a joke about Jada being invited to the Oscars, insinuating she didn't have a reason to be there. Then, we witnessed the unraveling at last year's ceremony when he mentioned her once more. This time, he called her "G.I. Jane" due to her bald head, and that seemed to be the catalyst that set off Will Smith. Pinkett has been widely blamed for her husband slapping Rock on the Oscars stage. Yet, she hasn't said anything negative about him.

It seems Rock wanted to even the score in Selective Outrage, mentioning that Jada was "f*cking her kid's friend." He referenced the "entanglement" controversy and even called Will "Suge Smith." The special has divided fans, as some viewers believed Rock was dragging out an old scandal. However, his defenders reminded critics that this was the first time he's spoken about the incident. For a year, there have been speculative reports regarding if he and Smith ever mended fences.

Although Smith has come forward with public apologies, what has gone on behind the scenes is unclear. "Sources" have popped up across pop culture outlets claiming Smith tried to reach out, but Rock denied him. Others state Smith hasn't attempted to make a private apology to his former friend. Comedian Donnell Rawlings believes the two men have evened the score, so now, it's time for them to sit down and move forward.
