One of the year's first big music festivals, Rolling Loud California, has run its course for another season, providing hip-hop lovers with plenty of unforgettable performances this past weekend. Friday's (March 3) headliner, Playboi Carti, teased fans with a preview of music he has yet to release, though his set unfortunately ended early after someone in the crowd was injured. The next night, Travis Scott was in a similar situation as his performance was cut off at 11 PM, after just 30 minutes of his singing.
Thankfully, special guest Lil Wayne was taking over another Rolling Loud stage at the same time, and he brought some old friends along with him. 2 Chainz, who was also on this year's lineup, joined the Louisana native to rap some of their past collaborations, and Gudda Gudda also came through to assist with "Bed Rock." Of course, the YMCMB track wouldn't be complete without Nicki Minaj, who stepped out to entertain audiences with a few throwbacks and new releases of her own.
Rolling Loud California 2023
On Sunday (March 5), the festival had an impressive closing roster of artists, including Central Cee, Shenseea, Moneybagg Yo, Lil Uzi Vert, and Future. Tory Lanez was also on the day's lineup but was obviously unable to fulfill his commitment as he's in jail. Thankfully, Rolling Loud was able to recruit Ice Spice to perform instead, and boy did patrons show out for her before she took the stage.
Unsurprisingly, there were some overzealous audience members in attendance. During the Bronx-born lyricist's set, one, in particular, caused a spectacle as he attempted to charge the stage. In a clip from TMZ, the fellow redhead pleads on his knees, waving his arms in the air. "Spice, Spice!!!" he excitedly yells before running and being immediately blocked by numerous security guards.
Spice's Set Shows Her Growth as an Artist
The rest of the 23-year-old's show went on without a hitch, and many social media users are discussing how she had one of the most packed audiences at the festival, despite many dubbing her a "one-hit wonder" in the weeks after "Munch (Feelin' U)" blew up online. If there's one thing that yesterday's performance made certain, it's that the rising rap diva isn't going anywhere, and she's only getting better.
