Father returns with his first solo single in a long time.

It's been quite some time since we've last heard a solo effort from Father. The head of Awful Records has been relatively quiet for the majority of 2017 with a few exceptions. While the rest of the Awful Records gang have been holding it down regardless, it's hopeful to think that he's been gearing up for a future release. If you're a fan of the Atlanta rapper, we know you've also been hoping to get a project from him this year. To hold you over until that happens, Father dropped his first solo track in over five months last night.

Father surprised his fans last night with the release of his latest single "CRUEL." The new single is a smooth joint that brings a more melodic side out of Father. Meltycanon sets up an atmospheric backdrop with his production for Father to spit some emotionally charged bars over. The two of them create a moody song that's bound to put you in a zone once you pop headphones on. "CRUEL" proves his creativity as an artist and his ability to bounce between genres and styles without having to compromise his own artistry.

Despite the lack of public activity from Father this past year, it seems like he's coming out of his shell a bit more lately. "CRUEL" serves as the second release from him in 10 days. About a week and a half a go, meltycanon released a collaborative single with Father and Lil Yachty called "Dreamboat Freestyle." Father previously teased the song months prior on Instagram live. Hopefully with two consecutive releases it means that Father has something up his sleeve in the near future. While we hope that happens, at least we have some new music to hold us over until that day arrives.

Quotable Lyrics
All I know is how to get to you
Get underneath your skin
Cause Im a villain
Playing with her cat
Switchblade on my lap
