Kyrie Irving is someone who is known for his various charitable contributions. Although Irving is someone wrapped up in controversy, he is also someone who should be praised for his work off of the court. Whenever Kyrie comes across a GoFundMe that interests him, he will donate to it. In the past, this has led to all sorts of attention on social media, however, Irving does not care for that. Instead, he would rather just give some of his wealth to those who need it the most.
Recently, Irving came across a GoFundMe created by Cameron Mofid. After backpacking in Africa, Mofid made it his mission to raise funds. Overall, his mission has been to bring an orphanage to Ghana and a school to Nigeria. Irving stumbled upon his GoFundMe and offered up a whopping $45,000. This is an immense gift, and as Mofid told the Dallas Morning News, this is more than he could have ever asked for.
Kyrie Continues To Do Good
“His donation single-handedly will build the entire orphanage in Ghana. It will buy a water tank for the kids in Nigeria. They live in a village with little access to clean drinking water. And so we’ll be able to buy a water tank; we’ll be able to buy shoes for all the kids. And books,” Mofid said. “We will build a new basketball court in [Irving’s] honor.” Additionally, in the Twitter clip up above, Kyrie was thanked directly by some of the children in Ghana and Nigeria. They helped up signs addressed to the Mavericks star, and it was all very heartwarming. Hopefully, Kyrie was able to see these messages and fully take in just how much he has helped here.
On the basketball side of things, Kyrie is looking to do big things alongside Luka Doncic. They haven't had the best results together, although they are looking to change that. It could take a while before both of them are used to playing with one another. That said, let us know what you think of Irving's charitable donations, down below.
