Bam sees himself as the best defensive player in the league.

Bam Adebayo has quickly become one of the most beloved players on the Miami Heat. Overall, he is one of those players who is a huge factor in the success of his team. During that NBA bubble run in 2020, Adebayo was able to show people exactly what he can on the floor. Although the Heat have yet to get back to the NBA Finals since then, Adebayo has still been fantastic. While there have been some inconsistencies here and there, there is no doubt that Adebayo is part of a Heat core that will last a very long time.

When people think about Adebayo, they think about his defense. There have been multiple seasons as of late in which people felt like he should have been defensive player of the year. However, he has yet to win the award. Instead, the honor was given to Rudy Gobert in 2021. Subsequently, Marcus Smart got the award back in 2022. As it turns out, Adebayo is not very happy about this. At the end of the day, he believes that he is the rightful owner of those awards.

Bam Adebayo Speaks

The Heat star made this revelation while speaking to Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report. As you can see up above, he believes he is better because he can defend every single position on the court. Overall, he believes Marcus Smart cannot guard the center position. Moreover, he noted that Rudy Gobert does not defend well in the playoffs as his style doesn't "translate." These were some very strong words, and we're sure Smart and Gobert were less than impressed with what they were hearing. It's a fair way to feel when you are being called out for seemingly no reason.

When you make these kinds of comments, you have to find a way to back them up. Consequently, there is going to be pressure on Adebayo to perform over these last few weeks. This is especially true as the Heat are on a bit of a losing skid. Let us know what you think of his comments, down below.
