Trippie Redd has been busy these days, as he continues to skyrocket through the internet ceiling and into real-life stardom. This translates into high-profile studio sessions, for Trippie's part, he was recently in the studio with none other than Lil Wayne. It's doubtful that anything from that session will appear on Trippie's upcoming release though, as the rapper has been creating anticipation for A Love Letter To You 2 with recent leaks (both with mouthful-titles; "I Know How to Self-Destruct" and "Woah Woah Woah/Crashbandicoot and chill."), and quite recently, a release date and cover art.
Since Trippie released the first A Love Letter to You in May, he hasn't released much new music for fans save for these two recent leaks and select features with XXXTENTACION. This latest song, "Bust Down," arriving via Spotify, is the most-polished from this recent set of leaks, although it's not confirmed yet whether it'll appear on A Love Letter to You 2. Still, it does fall in line with the previous two records in terms of funky, musically-driven production that encompasses layered vocals, flittering piano keys, alongside an arrangements of drums and ticking hi-hats. At times, the production minimizes to simple piano keys, and were graced primarily with Trippie's raw vocals, where he also acts as a back-up singer for himself. It's actually pretty dope-- hit play and let us know if you're surprised. While a vocal similarity to Lil Uzi Vert is somewhat noticeable (and this has been Trippie's biggest criticism, or feedback he can't seem to shake-- although he's been outspoken about wanting to collaborate with the Philly native), the sound he delivers here creates enough of a disparity between the two artists.
If you haven't yet heard A Love Letter to You, you can download it here (for free!). A Love Letter to You 2 is expected to arrive October 6th.
