Following the success of Prime Video's Cinderella, Camilla Cabello has found her next major acting role. She is set to join Jay Will, Mary J. Blige, and Chiwetel Ejiofor in Rob Peace. Ejiofor wrote and is directing his sophomore film. Furthermore, the film's genre will be drama. Additionally, the movie is currently in production and is based on Jeff Hobbs' best-selling biography. The biography is titled The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace: A Brilliant Young Man Who Left Newark for the Ivy League.
Camila Cabello's addition to the film makes it all the more exciting. The film's storyline follows Robert Piece (Will) who grew up in a section of Newark, New Jersey was full of crime. However, he graduated from Yale on a scholarship with degrees in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. During that time, Peace lived a double life. He was in the world of academia as a lab researcher of cancer and infectious diseases. However, he was also making six figures annually from selling marijuana. Unfortunately, Peace was killed in a drug-related shooting back in 2011.
Camila Cabello's New Role
In the film, Cabello will play another student at Yale named Naya who knows Robert Peace. Blige and Ejiofor will play Peace's mother and father, respectively. LAMF presents the film in association with Hill District Media and Participant, a Sugar Peace production. Antoine Fuqua, Rebecca Hobbs, Kat Samick, Andrea Calderwood, Jeffrey Soros, Simon Horsman, Alex Kurtzman, and Jenny Lumet for 25 Stories will produce the film. Additionally, Blige, Luke Rodgers, and Morgan Earnest for LAMF, Jeff Skoll and Robert Kessel for Participant, and Jamin O’Brien, and Bruce Evans for 25 Stories will executive produce the film.
In Cabello's career, she has won awards, with the likes of Latin Grammys, AMA's, and Billboard Music Awards under her belt. Additionally, in 2021 she was the first Hispanic woman to receive an RIAA Diamond status for he Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 hit, "Havana" [feat. Young Thug]. She played her first major film role as Cinderella in Kay Cannon's Prime Video film. It was a modern adaptation of the classic fairy tale, complete with new songs and Billy Porter as the fairy godmother. Billions have streamed her work across the world, including her most recent album, Familia. The album followed her 2018 album, Camila, and her 2019 album, Romance. The albums were released through Epic Records, and Cabello is repped by Gold Music Management and WME.
