Travis Scott says that his long-awaited collaborative album with Kid Cudi is still on the way. Scott discussed the state of the album, as well as the other projects he's working on, Saturday night, during Sheck Wes’ set at an NBA All-Star Weekend event in Salt Lake City, Utah. He also teased that Utopia will be coming afterward.
“You know The Scotts is on the way," Scott confirmed to the audience. He added: "We got Faygo about to put out a little EP that’s on the way. And right after that Utopia is [dropping]. So we came here to drop that message, and I can’t wait til these muthafuckas drop their shit."
Travis Scott's Update
Hope originally appeared to be lost for the collaborative project back in December. When a fan asked Scott for an update on Twitter, he responded: “Naw im not doin that. The moment has passed.” He didn't provide any further explanation; however, Cudi had recently admitted that he felt he was done making albums. Speaking about his future during an appearance on Hot Ones, Cudi said he might be moving on from music for good. “I feel like, I don’t have what they have,” Cudi said. “I just don’t know if I want to do music and drop albums for much longer. I’m really curious to see what else I can do. I was thinking about this, this is like a wacky idea I had years ago. It would be cool to one day be a kindergarten teacher. Just do that for a couple years…When I’m like 50, for like 10 years was a kindergarten teacher, but infect the youth with that freshness. Then those kids will sprinkle the freshness to the world.”
As for Utopia, Scott has been teasing the album for years at this point. Fans felt the album was imminent when he hosted his Road to Utopia residency in Las Vegas in September of last year. However, it's been five months since that point, and still no fourth studio album from Scott. He released his last album, Astroworld, all the way back in 2018.
