Through his social conscious lyrics, Kendrick Lamar has been a driving artistic force in the Black community for years. As we prepare to welcome his new album DAMN. Friday, the Compton native met with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
"I was very honored to meet and talk with my powerful brother and Hip-Hop artist Kendrick Lamar. The Cultural Revolution is On. • #Farrakhan #KendrickLamar," the minister posted on his IG feed along with photos of their meeting.
In an interview with T Magazine, the "Humble" emcee said his next record would be "urgent." He said he would focus on in own community. He also said he would tackle spirituality.
"We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God," he said. "Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system."
