Metro Boomin had fans at the edge of their seats throughout 2022 with hopes that he’d drop his second studio album. The St. Lous producer unveiled Not All Heroes Wear Capes in 2018, though his output since has been minimal. Safe for Savage Mode II with 21 Savage, Metro’s imprint was hardly on any recent hip-hop releases as it has been in the past. However, he maintained that he was hard at work to create a sophomore album that was worth the wait.
In November 2022, Metro Boomin finally arrived with his new album, Heroes & Villains. The album contained 15 songs in total with an all-star roster of collaborators. Of course, artists like Future, Young Thug, and 21 Savage, who he’s worked closely with throughout their careers, made appearances across the project. However, it also contained features from Don Toliver, Young Nudy, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, and the late Takeoff. At the same time, A$AP Rocky and Morgan Freeman held down narration duties.
Metro Boomin Taps The Chopstars For Heroes & Villains (ChoppedNotSlopped Edition)
A few weeks after releasing his last album, Metro popped up with the Heroes edition, consisting of an entire instrumental version of the project, along with the original tracklist. It was one of many drops, including the OG version of "Knife Talk," that arrived after the project dropped. This time, he returned with the Villains version of Heroes & Villains which takes inspiration from the regional sounds of Houston. DJ OG Ron C and DJ Candlestick of The Chopstars come through with a brand new ChoppedNotSlopped edition of the project which adds a new level of psychedelic vibes to the critically acclaimed Heroes & Villains project.
Metro Boomin and The Chopstars are no strangers to each other. The inclusion of The Chopstars is yet another similarity between Heroes & Villains and Savage Mode II. Along with Morgan Freeman’s presence on Metro’s project, OG Ron C and DJ Candlestick previously linked up with the producer for the ChoppedNotSlopped edition of Savage Mode II. Hopefully, this isn’t the last time we hear Metro work with OG Ron C and DJ Candlestick in the future.
