Montreal's Wasiu returns with the new song "Cigarettes & Poutine."

After kicking off the Summer with the mixtape Snow Mexican in June & later sharing the single “44:4,” rising Montreal artist Wasiu has been relatively quiet ever since then, but thankfully that all changes here today. Out of nowhere, Wasiu decides to return to the scene today and share a new song on his soundcloud page called “Cigarettes & Poutine” featuring vocal assistance from Basics.

Going in over production from Planet Giza, Wasiu delivers a laid back cut that finds him addressing the sights & smells of his hometown of Montreal, Canada and how after a Saturday night out on the town he’ll smell like “cigarettes & poutines,” just as the title and artwork depicts. It's an interesting concept to say the least.

“Everybody wanna talk about how shit looks or how shit sounds but rarely do we pay attention to how it smells.” Wasiu said about the record. “Years ago I was on my way back from Toronto and as soon as I came off the bus I tweeted my first thoughts which were ‘It smells like cigarettes and poutine, home sweet home.’ Anyone who lives here has come home smelling like they bathed in a pool of sin made of cigarettes, weed, booze, Poutine, cheap perfume, cheaper food and a whole lotta bad decisions. This song is about a regular Saturday night on Saint Laurent that my mother smelled on my clothes.”

It’s unclear at the moment on where this record will end up, but hopefully there’s more to follow or better yet another project for that matter. Guess time will only tell though.

Take a listen and let us know what you think. If you’re a fan, be sure to show your support on iTunes and revisit his Snow Mexican mixtape right here while you're at it.

Quotable Lyrics:

Got it with my moms I don't smoke but she said that shecould smelll it on my clothes
The city sinnin' better than my bones
Pew pew funk stink everywhere I go
When I roll to a function, best believe that they rollin’ a sons spliff
Am I puffin? hell no
