There's obviously been no shortage of rappers coming up out of the south as of late. Names like Finesse2tymes and GloRilla have been holding it down, but another artist you need to have on your radar is BigXthaPlug. The trap star comes from Dallas, Texas, and is making his voice heard with his new AMAR project.
The 13-track effort made its DSP debut on Friday (February 10). It was lead by singles such as "Safehouse," "Texas," and "Primetime," all of which have brought more fans the rapper's way. While he carries most of the tracklist on his own, BigX did recruit a few friends to help him out.
Firstly we hear a guest feature from Ro$ama on "Bad Bitches." Following that, Sauce Walka doings him on AMAR's tenth title, "I Know." Finally, the Texan calls on two female stars – Tay Money and Erica Banks – to show out alongside him on "Thick." So far, "Switched Up" and "Rush Hour" have emerged as new fan favourites, as well as "Bacc to tha Basics."
According to a press release, BigX was inspired by his son while creating the album. The project is named after the young boy, whose moniker means "everlasting life." While music is his main passion, the ultimate goal for the artist is to "create an everlasting legacy that goes beyond his existence."
Along with the project, thaPlug shared an official visual for AMAR's final song, "Dream." Thanks to his latest release, the rising star is obviously etching his name as one to watch within the world of hip-hop. In the future, we hope to hear more of his raw delivery and authentic storytelling.
