Sampha's proficiency with the pen is nearly unrivaled in today's music landscape. His debut album Process, in which he grieves the death of his mother, rivals Solange's A Seat at The Table and Frank Ocean's blonde in the department of stripped-down soul.
A pair of new Sampha tracks have surfaced courtesy of Richard Russell, the producer and founder of XL Recordings. Russell is putting together a compilation project called Everything is Recorded that features the work of Mark Ronson, Brian Eno, Syd, and Sampha. Russell debuted “Close But Not Quite” and “Everything Is Recorded," the two songs he recorded with Sampha, on a new episode of his podcast.
The first song can be heard at the 53:58 mark, and the second at the 1:13:51 mark. Listen below.
