Anthony Davis has been having a bit of a difficult season with the Los Angeles Lakers. Overall, these difficulties mostly have to do with his health status. Davis is constantly going through injury issues, and it has messed with his ability to remain on the floor. However, when he does get on the floor, he has been pretty solid. Regardless, there is quite a bit of frustration within the Lakers locker room at this point, and it is very understandable as to why.
Unfortunately, that frustration seemingly manifested itself at the worst possible moment on Tuesday night. As we all know, LeBron was going for the all-time scoring record. Consequently, LeBron kicked it up a notch and scored 36 points in three quarters, which got him the record. Although, AD didn't look all that enthusiastic as he was sitting down during James' record-breaking shot. This became a viral clip on Twitter, and people began to ask themselves questions about Davis' relationship with James. Yesterday, AD spoke out and answered for himself.
Anthony Davis Speaks
As you can see in the clip above, AD was adamant that he was just upset about the game. Furthermore, he didn't actually know where LeBron was in relation to the record. Had he of known, he would have reacted with a bit more urgency. “Y’all know me and Bron’s relationship,” Davis said. “It’s nothing. [I was] upset about the game. We were losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a game we needed and I was pissed off that we were losing. It’s that simple. It’s nothing that has to do with Bron and he knows that. Everyone else on the outside looking in, that’s their opinion but I was pissed off that we were losing the game.”
Moving forward, AD is going to need to be an MVP-caliber player for the Lakers. The roster has changed dramatically over the last couple of days, and they need some wins in order to make the postseason. LeBron James will also be back in the lineup this weekend, and hopefully, they can put the last week behind them. Let us know what you think of AD's explanation, in the comments below.
