50 Cent says that he, Eminem, and Dr. Dre are the "3 headed monster." The legendary New York rapper reflected on his relationship with his longtime collaborators on Instagram, Tuesday. In doing so, he shared a clip of all three of them during an interview on MTV from the early 2000s.
"When you have a team like this it’s hard to lose," 50 Cent wrote in the post. "I’m so blessed to have worked with the best ever. you can re-write a book, you can re -write a song but you can’t re-write history. The 3 headed monster EM, DRE and 50cent. Boom."
In the clip shared by 50, Dr. Dre praises 50's Get Rich or Die Tryin’, while they filmed the "In Da Club" video. “50’s album, in my opinion, is going to compete with all the classic Hip Hop records that have come out over the last 10 years — Illmatic, The Chronic, Ready to Die, The Marshall Mathers LP — it’s right up there,” Dre said in the clip. “And that’s no bullshit … It’s hot!." Dre produced several tracks for his project, including “In Da Club,” “If I Can’t” and “Back Down,” while Eminem appeared on “Patiently Waiting” and “Don’t Push Me.”
The post comes after the 20th anniversary of Get Rich or Die Tryin’. 50 celebrated the milestone on Instagram on Monday. “They can try not to remember because I made it uncomfortable but they can’t re write history,” 50 wrote. “20th year anniversary Get Rich Or Die Tryin. Boom.”
In addition to "In Da Club," Get Rich or Die Tryin’ also featured the hit singles “21 Questions” and “P.I.M.P.” The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 while selling 872,000 copies in its first week. It later finished as the best-selling project of 2003 and launched 50 into mainstream stardom. In the years since, the Recording Industry Association of America has certified it 9x platinum.
