Lil Boat fans have zero respect for retired New Jersey emcee Joe Budden.
At Lil Yachty's show at Miami's Rolling Loud festival on Friday night, his audience began a "Fuck Joe Budden" chant -- seemingly without being prompted to. Yachty eventually had to tell his fans to ease up on his aging rival, saying, "Let that old man live."
The self-proclaimed King of Teens isn't afraid to stand up to his elderly critics. His latest old-school foe is Joe Budden, the former Slaughterhouse rapper who is now a co-host on the Complex show Everyday Struggle. During a debate with his co-host DJ Akademiks, Budden described Yachty as a detriment to the culture whose music is unfit to be called hip-hop. That prompted Yachty to defend his artistry by appearing on Everyday Struggle the next week.
The conversation that ensued between the 19-year-old prodigy and the 36-year-old veteran was heated to say the least, though most of the animosity came from Budden's end. His infuriated reaction to Yachty's youthful brand of acceptance and positivity inspired some of the year's greatest memes.
