LeBron is getting closer to Kareem's record.

Shannon Sharpe has never hidden the fact that he is a huge LeBron James fan. Overall, Sharpe has claimed on numerous occasions that James is the GOAT of basketball. In just a few days from now, Sharpe's GOAT case for LeBron will be a lot stronger. This is because LeBron is just 63 points away from beating Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's scoring record. While some call this a longevity record, it must be said that LeBron has played over 100 fewer games than Kareem. Needless to say, LeBron will have taken the record in a more efficient manner.

Throughout this process, LeBron has remained humble about the record. He has noted that it is a very meaningful record, although he isn't trying to play into the hype. He answers questions when he's asked, but he won't go out of his way to comment on it. However, last night, after scoring 26 against the Pacers, James offered some unique insight into the record. As he explained, this is one of the biggest records in sports and in many ways, is like the Home Run record.

Shannon Sharpe Speaks

During this morning's episode of Undisputed, Shannon Sharpe got to react to this claim. As you can see in the clip above, he mostly agreed with James. However, he did note that the Home Run record is more memorable thanks to the fact that it is a smaller, rounder number. Either way, Sharpe is wholeheartedly impressed that James will break Kareem's tally. “I didn’t think anyone was going to break Hank Aaron’s record," Sharpe began. "I think that’s what everyone thought about Kareem’s — nobody was going to play long and consistent enough to get that many points.”

LeBron is on pace to break the record at home against either the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Milwaukee Bucks. Many believe it will come against Milwaukee as that would be a full-circle moment. Kareem played for both the Bucks and the Lakers. This sets up the perfect time for James to break the record, once and for all. Let us know what you think of LeBron breaking the record, in the comments down below.
