Based on the way that this Top Tracks system works, it's often the case that lead singles, standalone tracks, or even somewhat novelty-driven releases chart higher than fan favorites or album favorites. If a song drops on its own, you usually visit a host site to listen to it, rather than downloading or streaming it. That's just the way it is these days. So while Migos' latest release, the Atlanta Falcons-themed "11 Birds," may be far from the most noteworthy music they've released in the past six months, it arrived by itself at the height of the trio's fame, so it's on top this week.
Young Thug and Quavo are the only two artists who appear twice on this week's list. New tracks barely missing out on spots include dvsn's "Think About Me" (#11), Maroon 5, Future, and Gucci Mane's remix of "Cold" (#12), Meek Mill and ASAP Ferg's "Slay" (#13), and Logic, J. Cole, and Neil deGrasse Tyson's "AfricanAryan" (#15).
10. Logic Feat. Khalid & Alessia Cara - 1-800-273-8255
It's rare that we have many repeat performers on Top Tracks, but Logic's "1-800-273-8255" is one of five this week. This track inspired by and named after the National Suicide Prevention Hotline also features young singing upstarts Khalid and Alessia Cara. In its second week out, this track is down three spots from #7 to #10.
9. Frank Ocean Feat. Young Thug - Slide On Me
Frank hasn't dropped new music in two weeks now, but he's still got a track hanging on here, in part because it was never officially released and was scrubbed from the internet soon after it leaked. His remix of Endless' "Slide On Me" featuring Young Thug is fire, but we still have yet to hear the non-radio edit of the song, making me wonder if we ever will. In its second week out, the "Slide On Me" remix is down six spots from #3 to #9.
8. Tyga - Eyes Closed
Tyga's got things happening these days. Whether it's good things, like new music being released, or bad things, like breakups and rumors of label changes, remains to be seen, but at least he's in the news more than he was six months ago. "Eyes Closed" debuts at #8.
7. ASAP Rocky Feat. ASAP Ferg - Wrong
A couple of weeks ago, ASAPs Rocky and Ferg shared "Wrong," the first track from ASAP Mob's upcoming follow-up to last fall's Cozy Tapes Vol. 1, and the Harry Fraud-produced banger seems to have been a hit with the HNHH audience. Hopefully more tracks featuring more members of the Mob are soon to follow. In its second week out, "Wrong" is down two spots from #5 to #7.
6. B.o.B Feat. Young Thug - Xantastic
B.o.B. in our Top Ten? In 2017? The flat earth truther/ATL rapper hasn't exactly been in the news for his music recently, but then again, when you get a Young Thug feature, you can expect an uptick in views. "Xantastic" is an uncharacteristic move for Bob, and we'll have to see if his upcoming album follows suit. This track debuts at #6.
5. Desiigner - Outlet
It's still here! Not only has Desiigner's latest single stayed on our Top Ten list for several months in a row, it's also failed to give in to a downward trajectory thus far. In its thirteenth week out, "Outlet" is up one place from #6 to #5.
4. Tory Lanez - Magnolia (Swave Session)
Tory Lanez has a huge fanbase on HNHH, and so fittingly, his songs usually garner very high ratings. This time around, that's not really the case. Not only did he get owned by "Magnolia" producer Pierre Bourne on Twitter, but his remix of the Playboi Carti track only got a 70% approval rating from fans. Nevertheless, this track debuts at #4.
3. Wiz Khalifa - Pull Up With A Zip (Remix)
In another case of an older rapper remixing a buzzing track from an up-and-comer, Wiz Khalifa shared his weed-centric take on SahBabii's "Pull Up Wit Ah Stick," replacing the young rapper's weapon with a zip of loud. Unlike Tory Lanez's "Magnolia" version though, this one seemed to be a hit with people, garnering an 86% user approval rating. "Pull Up With A Zip" debuts at #3.
2. DJ Khaled Feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper & Lil Wayne - I'm The One
DJ Khaled's new single just fulfilled its own prophecy and went #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and over here on out chart, it's faring equally well. Last week it debuted at #1, and despite falling one place in its second week out, it looks like it may stick around in the Top Ten for a while. Maybe it'll compete with Desiigner's current streak, or even Khaled's own for "Do You Mind" last summer.
1. Migos - 11 Birds
This song, released in collaboration with Champs Sports, is far from the best Migos song of the year, but I suppose it's cool to think that this could become a mainstay at Atlanta Falcons games for years to come. "11 Birds" references wide receiver and close friend to the Migos Julio Jones, and the accompanying video is based around shots of the city in which all four of them reside. This track debuts at #1.
