Raise your hand if you noticed it had stopped in the first place.

Did you even realize Playboy stopped showing nudity two years ago? If not, you’re in the same boat as a lot of people. Ever since the advent of modern internet porn search engines, the storied adult magazine has seen their influence and audience diminish immensely. Still, after dropping nudity from its pages and website in 2015, Playboy is bringing it back.

The move is driven by Hugh Hefner’s son and Playboy’s chief creative officer Cooper Hefner, who released a statement on Twitter explaining the move back toward the titty. He focuses on “the way in which the magazine portrayed nudity,” rather than the presence of nudity itself.

Playboy originally stopped showing nudity in October of 2015 after CEO Scott Flanders said nudity was “passe” because it’s so readily available everywhere these days. That clearly was not a sound strategy. Based on young Cooper Hefner’s words and the cover for the March/April issue of Playboy and its recent #NakedIsNormal campaign, the magazine seems like it’s moving in a more vocally progressive direction – think Rolling Stone with boobs.

On a completely different note, can you imagine how strange it would be to grow up in the Playboy Mansion? Naked would most definitely be normal.
