Harlem's own A$AP Rocky, recently chopped it up with Bootleg Kev while at this year's VMAs. Although it was his first time around, the young rapper says he wasn't starstruck one bit and feels he belongs among the elite in the rap game. Rocky talked about his displeasure with the final product of the A$AP Mob mixtape, and also talked about being on the single "Cockiness" with R&B/Pop megastar Rihanna.
Fans had been waiting, rather impatiently, for A$AP Mob to drop an album, so Rocky felt under time constraints when co-executive producing the Lord$ Never Worry mixtape. "I wasn't too pleased with the way it came out, I didn't have enough time to sit on it", the A$AP frontman added, "I didn't have alotta time to really make the proper changes I wanted...I'm a perfectionist I guess."
When asked what he would change about the mixtape, the New York rapper was quick to add "I woulda had skits in there," but he felt he had to put a product out, as they had been keeping fans waiting long enough, "we had the people waiting for so long...right now I would still be working on it. You know how pissed people would be right now?"
Recently, Rocky jumped on Rihanna's "Cockiness (Love It)" remix, and as opposed to collaborations in the past with more mainstream pop singers, A$AP says his fans have embraced this single "anytime I collab with anybody mainstream, my core fanbase attacks it...this time they was with it."
