Chief Keef continues to roll out new music, debuting a new single called "Semi"

If we're talking about rap's most prolific artists in 2017, Chief Keef's name is bound to come up. The emcee has released an incredible amount of material over the course of the year, with his latest mixtape W coming just in time for Labor Day Weekend. That being said, just because the long weekend is over and most of us are back at work or school, that doesn't mean that there's no additional Keef material to discover. Case in point is this new track "Semi," which came out last week but got lost in the shuffle of his mixtape release slightly. Produced by TrapMoneyBenny, it's definitely worth a listen, especially for fans of the Chicago rapper.

Beginning with some synth chords that sport some major reverb, the instrumental then gives way to a staccato trap beat that is typically associated with Keef's style and previous releases. A lilting, melodic tone provides a further bit of detachment from total darkness in terms of the production's mood, but this is Chief Keef's show from the beginning. Talking about toting his semi around town as a means of intimidating and/or silencing anyone who gets in his way, the rapper continues to build up his image as someone who shouldn't be messed with under any circumstances. Perhaps not in the upper echelon of his recent tracks, "Semi" nevertheless proves to be a welcome addition to the glut of new hip-hop music that has seen the light of day over the past month or so.

W also continues to be one of rap music's highlights from the past week. Recruiting the likes of Fredo Santana and Lil Bibby as some big-name featuers on the tape, Keef also manages to enlist the services of producer Zaytoven, who comes through with four production credits. 808 Mafia also has two credits on the new project, with other production done by CBMix and Hollywood J as well.

Quotable Lyrics

In my left pocket, hundreds
In my right pocket, fifties
You told the cops I'm selling drugs
You're a little mouse, Mickey
