Billboard has compiled a list of 25 executives for their first ever "Urban Power List", and have chosen the co-founders of Cash Money Records to grace the cover of their magazine. The list consists of executives whose primary focus is urban music and are the "biggest players in the industry".
From Billboard, "[T]he unranked tally targets executives whose concentration is urban, not executives who have oversight of urban music but also substantial responsibilities with other genres".
Unlike traditional power lists, the "Urban Power List" is not limited to executives and includes "deal makers, rule breakers, [and] beat creators". Billboard describes the people on the list as "the men and women who define the game, direct its flow and determine its outcome".
Besides the Cash Money founders, other notable names on the list include Jay-Z (Roc Nation), Rick Ross (Maybach Music Group), T.I. (Grand Hustle), Dr. Dre (Aftermath), Sean "Diddy" Combs (Bad Boy), and Tech N9ne (Strange Music).
