R. Kelly's tax debt continues to mount, as in addition to the over $4 million he already owes the government, he now owes an additional $1.3 million.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, which were filed in Illinois, Kelly owes an additional $1,379,695.11 in back taxes for the year 2011. Adding this to a total he already owes the IRS over $4 million for unpaid taxes stemming from 2005 to 2010. Now his tab to the government sits at a staggering $6,227,767.82, that's a lot of Write Me Back albums.
Although he has let his total amount owed continue to grow, a rep for the R&B legend says that he intends to pay the amount and is working with the government to sort out a payment structure, "He takes this very seriously and is already communicating with the IRS about the payment process to quickly resolve the issue."
Let's hope Kell can resolve this, and we don't add him to the growing list of artists confined to prison for unpaid taxes.
