Disney rarely acknowledges rumors.

After one of the more shocking passings of 2016, people have been quietly wondering what would happen to Princess Leia Organa’s character in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX film. Disney had already clarified Fisher had finished filming her parts for Episode VIII, but after the surprise at the end of Star Wars: Rogue One people were afraid Disney would do something weird in the final movie of the new trilogy.

Those fears were put to rest late last week when the Star Wars franchise released a statement via their official website which stated unequivocally that they have “no plans to digitally recreate Carrie Fisher’s performance as Princess or General Leia Organa.” It’s unclear if this is due to the lukewarm response to their digital tricks in the most recent film, or to a larger respect for Fisher’s family.

For those who have seen Star Wars: Rogue One, what was your take on their surprise at the end of the film?
